Martha Markowsky SCA
Martha Markowsky is a nationally known award winning Canadian artist, represented in galleries in Quebec and Ontario. She has been painting professionally for 39 years with more than 15 solo and group exhibitions. In March 2020, she had a major 35-year Retrospective of her art career, hosted at the Guy Descry Centre Culturel in Lachine. Martha is an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA) and in 2008, the City of Lachine awarded her the Award of Excellence (fils de l’excellence) for her contributions in art. In 2009, she was awarded second prize for originality in oil painting at the Circle des Artistes et Peintres de Quebec (CAPSQ). She has received many other awards and recognitions. Martha taught acrylic/oil painting with numerous associations, gave workshops in Charlevoix, Kamouraska regions of Quebec and Ontario, as well as Limoux, France. Besides her paintings being in several countries around the world, she participated in many group shows, including solo exhibitions at the various galleries. She is a member of the West Carleton Arts Society, CARFAC, Society of Canadian Artists, Private and corporate collectors include Former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, Right Honourable Jean Chretien, Ottawa Senators Hockey Association, Royal Ottawa Golf Club, TSN Toronto, the late Josef Karsh, Carmichael Engineering, and many more. Née à Lachine (Québec), Martha Markowsky est une membre élue de la Société des Artistes Canadiens. Au cours de sa carrière, elle a reçu de nombreux prix, dont le prix «le fil de l’excellence 2008», décerné par l’Arrondissement de Lachine pour son dévouement dans le domaine des arts et le 2e prix du Cercle des Artistes Peintres et Sculpteurs du Québec en novembre 2009. Le 12 mars 2010, Mme Markowsky célèbrait ses 35 ans de carrière en présentant une importante rétrospective à la salle d’exposition de l’Entrepôt Centre Culturel Guy Descary de Lachine.
Martha Markowsky est connue principalement pour ses peintures d’orchestres. Outre ce thème, Martha affectionne particulièrement les anciens paysages urbains montrant des enfants jouant à l’extérieur. Son intention est de documenter des scenes de sa jeunesse. L’histoire aura une mémoire, les gens pourront admirer la peinture nostalgique de leur enfance. |
