David Kelavey is an impressionist painter working in oils. He paints figurative landscapes, using energetic brushwork and often bold composition choices. David draws inspiration from the world around him, be it on a dramatic mountain summit or behind the wheel of his car at a suburban stop light.
When seen from a distance his work can often appear to be photo-realistic, but the viewer soon finds this to be an illusion as they draw closer. David's paintings are not simple renderings, but multi-faceted interpretations that require the viewer to look deeper. David's work reflects the enthusiasm, optimism, and pragmatism with which he approaches his art. He hopes his paintings enable the viewer to enhance, in some small way, their outlook on the world around them. David Kelavey est un peintre impressionniste travaillant à l’huile. Il peint des paysages figuratifs avec un coup de pinceau énergétique, utilisant souvent une composition assez audacieuse. Son inspiration vient du monde qui l’entoure, à savoir un spectaculaire pic montagneux ou encore une scène urbaine croquée derrière son volant, lorsqu’arrêté à une intersection.
Vu d’une certaine distance, ses œuvres apparaissent d’un réalisme photographique. C’est en s’approchant de ses toiles que l’on constate que ce n’est qu’une illusion. Les toiles de David ne sont pas que de simples exécutions mais bien des œuvres d’art qui demandent aux observateurs une lecture en profondeur. Le travail de David reflète bien l’enthousiasme, l’optimisme et le pragmatisme qui guident son art. Bien humblement, son souhait est que la vision du monde qui entoure l’observateur soit embellie.
